When a girl goes to a gynecologist, do they keep it private?

Like when a young teenage girl goes to a gynecologist do they keep it between the teenager and Doctor or do they tell the parent that the teen has had sex? Do they keep it private?

Yes. Doctor patient confidentiality is absolute. The only way your parent will find out is if they go in the exam room with you or if you tell them. Don’t be afraid to go to the doctor for this reason. Anything you say will be kept private.

most of the time . when the young girl goes in at first before she is 18 its maybe to get on birth control. and iam sure mom knows all about it. mom was young to at one time. and dad was right there. if it wasnt dad. it might of been some other donkey. but until your 18 the doc. cant keep it all to him or her self. they need to tell the parents. and you need to be on birth control big time.

Yes, completely private. Be honest with your doctor and tell him the truth about your sexual history. It will help him (or her!) be able to treat you better. If you’re worried, just ask your doctor in person to not tell your mother.

If your mother wants to follow you in, just let her know that it’s uncomfortable enough with just the doctor, and that you’ll see her again in the waiting room.
